Inspirations

I think we have enough material to pull us out of the Word and into the world, so any reflections found here will be sporadic. This is not a blog. I pray that the words found here are always true and kind. I will always try my best to be both. I am human and will likely disappoint you. Luckily we have Jesus! I do not claim in any way whatsoever to have everything right about faith or the Church. The scariest thing about writing for an audience is the published tattoo. I will make mistakes, I will be wrong, I will grow and change my mind and be sharpened by the Lord and by you. And praise God for that! Praise God that we can never have Him all figured out, all at once, nice and neat. But let’s never quit trying. Come try beside me. And let’s count on changing together.

Soar

There will always be that friend who has a hard time watching you do well. There will always be that one person in the audience with their arms folded across their chest glaring at you from under their eyebrows, casting their spell, wishing for your misstep.
My gut knows a hater... and my gut is notably accurate.

I thought I would be immune to the haters by now.

No such luck.

But listen.

Your genuine effort is worthy of observance and enthusiasm.

You were designed to SOAR.

The Lord made this sky and everything under it and he gave us dominion over it.

We choose what happens here on earth. For His glory we have an important role in creating a more tenable home.

So do the things, do all the things!, that make you feel like flying.

Write the poem, take the picture, sing the song, hold the baby, walk in the woods, swing the bat, paint the picture, bake the cake! Whatever it is that makes you feel alive, that thing, that thing that can only be named as an inner tug, that tug that leads you and assures you there is MORE to this life than simply getting through it. Find it, follow it, fight the feeling that believes that what the hater says is true.

And the hater? They most likely aren't hateful. In fact, they might not even be all together wrong.

But if they've been unkind? Chances are your vulnerability made them feel something. Chances are they are scared and wounded and something about the way you fly so close to the sun reminded them.

So be kind. Be gentle. Walk humbly. We all have our wounds. We are all children here. There will always be people who don't think you deserve your place in the sky, but never forget, it was made for you. You were made to soar.
